Mike’s Favorite Star Trek Episodes for Halloween

catspawhd0412Want your Halloween to be a little more geeky?  How about enjoying a Star Trek marathon while you wait for those cute trick-or-treaters. 🙂  I’ve compiled a list of my favorite creepy episodes of Star Trek.  Let’s jump in.

catspawhd0186Star Trek TOS, Season 2, Episode 1.  “Catspaw”  Let get this one on the list right up front.  Catspaw was written as a sort of Halloween special.  Kirk, Spock & McCoy are haunted by the three weird sisters from Macbeth, a magical and monstrous cat, and are imprisoned in a dungeon complete with a skeleton.  No Halloween is complete without a viewing of “Catspaw”!

themagicksofmegastu_058Star Trek TAS, Season 1, Episode 8. “The Magicks of Megas-Tu”  Kirk & crew meet the Devil and are transported back to the Salem Witch trials?! Did that happen??  Why yes it did!  I feel like this is a script they never could have got away with in the live action show and it’s amazing.  We ask the question “is the devil really bad”?

subrosa295Star Trek TNG, Season 7, Episode 14. “Sub Rosa”  In this episode we learn that the Beverly’s family has been haunted for generations by a sexy “ghost” who lives in a candle.  He can even reanimate the dead!  Sound silly?  It is.  Many fans hate this episode, but I think it has a place.  And that place is Halloween. 🙂

hauntingofdeck12_072Star Trek Voyager, Season 6, Episode 25. “The Haunting of Deck Twelve” Neelix tells a ghost story to the Borg kids.  This episode will make you want to gather around a camp fire and roast marsh mellows.

doctorsorders_386Star Trek Enterprise, Season 3, Episode 16. “Doctors Orders” The crew has to be put in stasis while Doctor Phlox remains the only person awake on the ship. He soon finds himself living a nightmare!  Don’t watch this one alone!

Those are my favorites.  What are yours?  Let me know in the comments below or you can tweet us @HailingFreqOpen
